BERNARD brewery based in Humpolec in the Czech Republic, was created in 1991 when Stanislav Bernard, Josef Vávra and Rudolf Šmejkal made a successful auction bid for a bankrupt brewery with a history that dated back to the 16th century.

BERNARD brewery and its beer rapidly became a well-known premier beer brand throughout the Czech Republic and developed a reputation for quality based on a its commitment to using skill craftsmen and the very best ingredients to make a traditional unpasteurized beer. It is this commitment to traditional brewing methods that has ensured BERNARD beer has become known for its full and bitter flavour.

Since 2000, the brewery has been part of a join-stock company and in July of 2001, it increased its registered capital with the entry of strategic partners and Belgium brewers ‘Duvel Moortgat’.

Ongoing growth has continued due to the increasing popularity of BARNARD beer in the Czech Republic and also its expansion into more than 26 other countries worldwide.
